Regenexx Australia

Nepean Specialist Sports Medicine

Regenexx Australia is seeking a full or part time Sports and Exercise Physician to join our flagship clinic in Penrith.

This is an opportunity to build a substantial private practice within an established sports medicine service, integrated into one of Western Sydney’s largest multidisciplinary allied health facilities. The role is particularly suited to a physician wishing to expand expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided interventions and procedural sports medicine.

Work alongside an experienced Sports Physician

The successful physician will work alongside Dr Kevin Boundy, Senior Sports Physician, within an established clinical and referral network.

The practice has invested heavily in point-of-care ultrasound. Every Sports Medicine consulting room has its own ultrasound machine, allowing ultrasound to be incorporated routinely into assessment and procedural planning. A registered nurse trained in aspects of musculoskeletal sonography assists with patient preparation, scanning and guided procedures.

The position provides regular clinical discussion, shared management of complex cases and hands-on experience in:

  • Ultrasound-guided intra-articular and periarticular injections
  • Tendon, enthesis and bursal procedures
  • Image-guided treatment of sporting injuries
  • Osteoarthritis injection therapies
  • Platelet-rich plasma and other orthobiologic procedures
  • Aspiration and injection techniques
  • Point-of-care diagnostic ultrasound
  • Integration of procedures with rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and return-to-sport programs

Develop expertise in orthobiologics

Regenexx Australia has a strong focus on the high-quality preparation and clinical application of orthobiologic treatments.

Dr Boundy is one of only two practitioners in Australia who are Board Certified in Regenerative Medicine, giving the incoming physician the opportunity to develop experience in orthobiologic and regenerative musculoskeletal medicine.

The Penrith practice also has its own laboratory and technical staff, enabling the preparation of bespoke PRP rather than relying solely on standard commercial systems. This provides practical exposure to PRP preparation, platelet dose and the selection of appropriate orthobiologic treatments for different musculoskeletal conditions.

For a physician early in their consultant career—or an established physician wishing to expand the procedural component of their practice—this offers a rare combination of mentorship, advanced procedural experience and clinical independence.

Build your own practice

The objective is not simply to fill consulting sessions. It is to provide the clinical environment, support and referral network for the incoming physician to develop a strong, independent Sports and Exercise Medicine practice, with the opportunity to establish particular expertise in ultrasound-guided procedures and orthobiologic medicine.

A genuinely multidisciplinary practice

OnePointHealth Penrith brings together a broad clinical team including:

  • Physiotherapists
  • Podiatrists and sports podiatrists
  • Exercise physiologists
  • Strength and conditioning professionals
  • Dietitians
  • Chiropractors
  • Psychologists
  • Remedial massage therapists
  • Podiatric surgery and other specialist services

The clinic incorporates 23 consulting rooms, a rehabilitation gym and a dedicated strength and conditioning gym, allowing assessment, intervention and rehabilitation to occur within the one facility.

For procedural sports medicine, this is particularly valuable. An injection is not an isolated treatment, but part of an integrated management plan incorporating biomechanics, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and return to sport.

There is scope to develop interests across non-operative musculoskeletal medicine, osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, diagnostic ultrasound, image-guided intervention, orthobiologics, exercise prescription, injury prevention and elite or recreational sport.

Work in a city that lives and breathes sport

Penrith has an exceptional sporting culture.

OnePointHealth is a Preferred Health Partner of the Penrith Panthers and has established relationships with sporting organisations throughout Western Sydney. The region provides exposure to athletes ranging from children and recreational competitors to elite and professional sport.

Local facilities include the Sydney International Regatta Centre, built for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the Penrith Whitewater Stadium, an internationally recognised canoe-slalom training and competition venue.

The region also has thriving rugby league, football, rugby union, cricket, athletics, netball, AFL, basketball, cycling, running and endurance-sport communities.

For a Sports Physician, this creates a broad clinical population—from acute sporting injuries and return-to-play decisions to chronic tendinopathy, overuse injury, osteoarthritis and exercise-related medical problems.

And when the working day finishes, the Blue Mountains begin

There are more than 140 kilometres of walking tracks and trails, ranging from short walks to challenging full-day and multi-day hikes.  Mountain bikers have access to trails including the Woodford–Oaks trail, Narrow Neck and the Wentworth Falls–Woodford routes, with extensive riding through eucalypt forest and sandstone country.

The Mountains also offer:

  • Trail running
  • Road cycling
  • Rock climbing
  • Abseiling and canyoning
  • Camping
  • Kayaking
  • Lookouts, waterfalls and swimming holes
  • Historic mountain villages
  • Excellent cafés, restaurants and weekend escapes

Closer to the clinic, the Nepean River and Penrith Lakes provide excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, rowing, paddling and running.

It is entirely possible to finish a clinic session and spend the late afternoon mountain biking, running beside the Nepean River or bushwalking in the Blue Mountains.
