Regenexx Australia

Nepean Specialist Sports Medicine

At Regenexx Australia, we offer nonsurgical alternatives to treat hip pain and hip injuries.

Hip problems can cause pain when lying on your side at night. They can make it hard for you to pull on socks and shoes. You might also experience groin pain while active or when just sitting down. If you have one of the hip conditions below, you may benefit from our treatment options.

Hip conditions treated

  • Hip arthritis
  • Hip bursitis
  • Hip tendinopathy

PRP for hip osteoarthritis

A 2016 study of hip osteoarthritis[1] comparing PRP injection with hyaluronic acid, or an injection of a combination of the two found that VAS pain scores were better in the PRP group at 2, 6, and 12 months after injection than the other 2 groups. The WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) was significantly better in the PRP group at 2 and 6 months.

PRP can reduce the pain of arthritis and improve joint function more than other injection types

Trochanteric pain syndrome treatment

Pain on the outside of your hip that is present when walking, climbing stairs, or even lying on your side at night is called trochanteric pain. It is often due to tendinitis where the gluteal tendons attach to the greater trochanter, or bursitis. The vast majority of cases respond to a range of conservative treatments including physiotherapy or prolotherapy injections.
